New Delhi, 29 October (H.S.): Maruti Suzuki India Limited (MSIL), the country’s largest carmaker, has exported more than 50,000 electric vehicles (EVs) between August 2025 and October 2026, marking a significant milestone in its global electric mobility expansion. The company began supplying electric vehicles to international markets in August 2025.

In a statement issued on Thursday, the company said it accounted for approximately 93 per cent of India’s total electric passenger vehicle exports during April–September 2026.

Maruti Suzuki began manufacturing its e-VITARA electric SUV at its Hansalpur facility in Gujarat in August 2025. The vehicle has been developed for sale in more than 100 countries, reflecting the company’s focus on expanding its presence in international markets.

Hisashi Takeuchi, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Maruti Suzuki India Limited, said the company was currently exporting electric vehicles to nearly 50 countries, with Europe serving as its largest market. He reiterated that Maruti Suzuki accounted for approximately 93 per cent of India’s electric passenger vehicle exports during the first half of the current financial year, from April to September 2026.

The company said the Hansalpur facility is the sole manufacturing location for Suzuki’s first global battery electric vehicle. Maruti Suzuki has recently increased the plant’s annual production capacity to one million vehicles, making it the first Suzuki manufacturing facility worldwide to achieve such capacity at a single location.

According to the company, total investment in the Hansalpur facility stands at Rs. 25,288.7 crore. The plant is also strategically important for exports, accounting for nearly half of Maruti Suzuki’s total vehicle exports in the 2025–26 financial year.

The company exports its e-VITARA electric SUV to nearly 50 countries worldwide, including the United Kingdom, Norway, Germany, Japan and Switzerland. Europe remains its largest export market for electric vehicles.
