Lucknow, Oct 28 (HS): With the resolve to make Uttar Pradesh

the country's leading growth engine and move rapidly towards the goal of a

trillion dollar economy, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath held detailed

discussions with a 14-member high-level business delegation of top

industrialists and investors from Singapore in the capital Lucknow on Tuesday.

The delegation, led by the Singapore Business Federation, expressed its desire

to make major investments in the state in strategic sectors like logistics,

semiconductors, data centers, green energy, urban planning and hospitality.

This delegation has now come to Uttar Pradesh after the Chief Minister's visit

to Singapore in February.

Welcoming the delegation, Chief Minister Yogi said that the

vision of the late Lee Kuan Yew, the architect of modern Singapore,

demonstrated to the world that a country's global identity is determined not by

its geographical size but by its vision, efficiency, and efficient use of

resources. He added that in the last 12 years, under the visionary leadership

of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, India has emerged from a fragile economy to

one of the world's leading and strongest economies. Similarly, in the last nine

and a half years, Uttar Pradesh has also emerged from its BIMARU

image and emerged as the country's growth engine. The state's GDP, annual

budget, and per capita income have tripled. Women's participation in the workforce

has also tripled. Without imposing any new taxes on the public, Uttar Pradesh

has consistently remained a revenue-surplus state.

Referring to his meetings with President Tharman

Shanmugaratnam and Prime Minister Lawrence Wong during his visit to Singapore

in February 2026, Yogi said that investment agreements worth approximately Rs. 60,000

crore were reached during that period. The state government's assurance of

safety, stability, and speed to investors during the Singapore

roadshow is a commitment the state continues to pursue today. The Chief

Minister clarified that the goal now is to bring investment proposals to

fruition and commence production. The Uttar Pradesh government will stand

firmly with investors throughout the entire process, from MOU to manufacturing

and groundbreaking to production, and will provide necessary support at every

level.

Yogi proposed to the delegation the development of a

dedicated Singapore City and a high-tech industrial township near

the Noida International Airport in Jewar. He stated that this region, connected

by the confluence of the Eastern and Western Dedicated Freight Corridors and a

world-class expressway network, has the potential to become North India's major

supply chain hub for international companies. The state has a land bank of over

75,000 acres available for industrial investment, and 27 integrated

manufacturing and logistics clusters are being developed. Meanwhile, the six

strategic nodes of the UP Defense Industrial Corridor, established in Lucknow,

Kanpur, Jhansi, Agra, Aligarh, and Chitrakoot, have received investment

proposals worth over Rs. 35,000 crore.

To ensure the partnership achieves concrete results, the

Chief Minister placed special emphasis on six key priority areas. These include

the development of multimodal logistics and warehousing through the Jewar

Expressway and freight corridors; high-tech manufacturing such as semiconductor

fab units and electronics, data centers, cloud services, and artificial

intelligence; and clean technologies such as solar, green hydrogen, waste

management, and water recycling. Chief Minister Yogi noted that Uttar Pradesh

currently accounts for approximately 55 percent of the country's total mobile

phone production and 60 percent of electronic components. Referring to the

state's agricultural potential, he said that Uttar Pradesh's contribution as

the country's food basket is significant. There is immense

potential for partnership between the state's 21 percent food grain production

and Singapore's high-quality food packaging and export model.

Discussing the potential of the tourism and hospitality

sector, Yogi Adityanath said that the grand and successful organization of the

Maha Kumbh 2025 has showcased Uttar Pradesh's vast management and organizing

capabilities to the world. This experience and capacity can be combined with

modern tourism facilities and wellness projects to create new opportunities.

Global spiritual centers like Ayodhya, Kashi, Mathura-Vrindavan, Prayagraj, and

the Buddhist Circuit offer immense potential for the development of world-class

hotels, convention centers, and hospitality services. Additionally, Singapore's

world-renowned urban planning expertise can be leveraged for the planned

development of Lucknow, the State Capital Region, and new townships.

Mark Lee, Chairman of the Singapore Business Federation, and

members of the delegation, who conducted a field inspection of the industrial

areas of Noida and Greater Noida before the meeting, praised the state's

infrastructure, ease of doing business, and investment-friendly policies. They

described the Film City, Toy Park, Apparel Park, Medical Devices Park, and

Semiconductor Cluster being developed in Greater Noida and the Yamuna Authority

area as being in accordance with international standards. The delegation said

that Uttar Pradesh's transparent and prompt functioning increases the

confidence of global investors. Singapore companies are excited about a

long-term economic partnership with the state.

At the meeting, Mark Lee, Chairman of the Singapore Business

Federation, noted the strong and historical ties between India and Singapore,

calling the Chief Minister's visit to Singapore a historic milestone in this

direction. He praised Uttar Pradesh's developed expressway network, modern

warehousing, well-planned industrial parks, and progressive industrial

policies. He said that the new Uttar Pradesh offers vast business opportunities

for Singapore companies.

Prasun Mukherjee, Chairman of the SBF-India Business

Committee, praised Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath's leadership, stating that

this is the first high-level SBF delegation, led by Chairman Mark Lee, to visit

an Indian state outside Singapore. He added that under Yogi Adityanath's

leadership, unprecedented progress has been made in Uttar Pradesh's

infrastructure and connectivity, which has significantly increased investor

confidence in the state.

Prashant Mukherjee, Managing Director of Universal Success

Enterprises, said that the Chief Minister's team has worked with extraordinary

urgency and speed to implement the MoU signed during the Chief Minister's visit

to Singapore in February. He said that he also shares the Uttar Pradesh

government's commitment, transparency, and unprecedented speed of action with

other international investors on global platforms.

During the meeting, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath presented

a Certificate of Eligibility to M/s Greater Nashik Infracon Private Limited, a

Singapore-based company affiliated with Universal Success Enterprises Group,

for 50 acres of land to establish an integrated manufacturing Universal

Packaging Hub in Sector 8D of the Yamuna Expressway Industrial

Development Authority (YEIDA) area at a cost of Rs. 775 crore. The project

involves foreign direct equity from Singapore and will create 1,880 direct

employment opportunities. A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was also

exchanged with Agricorp International, a global agriculture and food processing

company, to stimulate new investment in the state. The company will establish a

state-of-the-art greenfield manufacturing facility for the production of soy

protein isolate and chickpea protein concentrate in Uttar Pradesh. This will

strengthen the state's agri-processing and value-addition ecosystem and

accelerate the expansion of agriculture-based industries.

An MoU was also exchanged with Blue Planet Environmental

Solutions, a leading global company in sustainable waste management. With an

estimated investment of Rs. 250-350 crore, the company will work to treat

approximately 750,000 tons of legacy waste in Noida Sector 145 and establish a

fresh waste processing plant with a capacity of 350 tons per day in Saharanpur.

These projects will create new employment opportunities for 100-120 people.
