New Delhi, 28 October (H.S.): Indian batter Abhishek Sharma has reclaimed the top spot in the ICC Men’s T20 International batting rankings following his match-winning century against New Zealand. Meanwhile, South African fast bowler Marco Jansen has risen to the No. 1 position in both the Test bowling and Test all-rounder rankings for the first time in his career.

Abhishek delivered a breathtaking performance in the third T20 International against New Zealand in Wellington on Tuesday. The left-handed batter reached his century in just 35 balls and finished with 113 runs off 38 deliveries. His explosive innings helped India secure a six-wicket victory and clinch the series.

With this performance, Abhishek overtook his Indian teammate Ishan Kishan to reclaim the top position. Kishan had displaced Abhishek in July this year following an impressive performance against Ireland. Abhishek had first reached the summit of the T20I batting rankings in July 2025, overtaking Australia’s Travis Head.

Jansen Overtakes Jadeja

South Africa’s Marco Jansen has claimed the top spot in the Test bowling and all-rounder rankings following an outstanding performance in the second World Test Championship match against Australia in Gqeberha.

During South Africa’s comprehensive victory, Jansen contributed 85 runs with the bat and took five crucial wickets in Australia’s first innings.

The performance helped the 26-year-old make significant gains across all three Test ranking categories. He climbed 13 places to 56th in the Test batting rankings. In the bowling rankings, he rose five places to move ahead of Australia’s Mitchell Starc. He also advanced one position in the Test all-rounder rankings, displacing India’s Ravindra Jadeja from the top spot.

Jadeja had held the No. 1 position in the Test all-rounder rankings for more than four years. Jansen’s achievement comes shortly after former South African pace great Dale Steyn described him as “the best cricketer in the world”.

Samson and Arshdeep Also Make Gains

India’s Sanju Samson has also improved his position in the T20I batting rankings, climbing six places to 20th. New Zealand’s aggressive batter Finn Allen has moved up three places to 25th.

In the T20I bowling rankings, New Zealand captain Mitchell Santner has risen seven places to seventh. India’s Arshdeep Singh has also made progress, climbing six places to 15th.

Changes in ODI Rankings

Rankings have also shifted during the ongoing ODI tri-series involving Pakistan, England and Sri Lanka. England batters Ben Duckett and Harry Brook have improved their positions in the ODI batting rankings.

In the ODI bowling rankings, Pakistan’s Shaheen Afridi has climbed two places to sixth. Afghanistan’s Azmatullah Omarzai has surged 13 places to seventh, while Namibia spinner Bernard Scholtz has risen nine places to eighth. All three have secured positions in the top 10.

Afghanistan’s experienced all-rounder Mohammad Nabi has also gained ground, moving up five places to third in the ODI all-rounder rankings.
