Mumbai,
28 Oct (HS): Women’s Self-Help Groups (SHG) staged demonstrations against ISKCON
Central Kitchen at Azad Maidan, Mumbai, as it has affected employment to of
women who had formed SHGs. The SHGs also demanded bonus to Angawadi workers and
insentive allowance. The State Government allotted the Central Kitchen to ISKCON
(International Society for Krishna Consciousness) for supply of mid-day meal to
children through Anganwadi. The decision was taken as large number of
complaints were received from the beneficiaries of the Mid-Day Meal scheme.
Earlier the scheme was being operated by the women’s Self-Help Groups, and
material suppliers. The agitation by SHGs is being supported by the Food
Suppliers’ Association.
SHGs from Nagpur, Wardha, Yavatmal and Mumbai are
participating in the agitation.
A delegation met the authorities concerned in the
Mantralaya and demanded payment of the pending bills, mobile recharge amounts,
house rent allowance, and instalment under Ladki Bahin Scheme.
