New Delhi, 28 October (H.S.): Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw on Wednesday reviewed the ground situation with senior officials in view of the impact of Cyclone Arnab. He said minor disruptions, including fallen trees at 10 locations across the railway network, had been cleared promptly.
In a post on the social media platform X, Vaishnaw said the situation was being closely monitored to ensure that train services continued to operate safely and smoothly.
With Cyclone Arnab making landfall near Yanam and Kakinada along the Andhra Pradesh coast, the Railways has intensified its precautionary measures. Train operations are being monitored continuously amid the possibility of heavy rainfall and waterlogging in coastal areas.
Earlier, several trains operating on coastal routes in Andhra Pradesh, Telangana and Odisha had been cancelled as a precautionary measure to minimise potential risks.
According to railway officials, operational conditions in the affected areas are being monitored closely, and all necessary steps are being taken to ensure passenger safety.
