Over 4 Crore Records Digitised, a Significant Step Towards
Promoting Paperless Working
Prayagraj, Oct 28 (HS): North Central Railway is making
continuous efforts to simplify, streamline and enhance transparency in its
office functioning through the digitisation of records. In this direction,
General Manager, North Central Railway, Naresh Pal Singh, today released a
documentary highlighting the achievements and significance of the record
digitisation programme. Divisional Railway Managers from various divisions of North
Central Railway, along with senior railway officials, were present on the
occasion.
The documentary showcased the initiatives being undertaken
to promote a digital work culture, ensure the safe and systematic preservation
of records, and reduce dependence on physical documents. This initiative marks
an important step towards modernising railway operations and encouraging the
effective use of technology in official work.
North Central Railway has digitised over 4 crore records so
far. During the ongoing Special Cleanliness drive over the zone, around 200
Metric Tonnes of papers were disposed off. In addition, the disposal of old
records has helped free up approximately 25,000 square feet of office space,
while storage capacity of over 58 terabytes has been developed for the
preservation of digital records. Digitisation is making it easier to access
essential documents while saving time and effort in record maintenance and
retrieval.
On the occasion, General Manager Naresh Pal Singh
appreciated the efforts undertaken under the digitisation programme and
emphasised the need to continue the process systematically. He directed the
concerned officials and staff to progressively digitise the remaining records
and stressed the wider adoption of digital tools in office operations to
promote a paperless work culture. This initiative by North Central Railway is
contributing significantly towards improving administrative efficiency,
optimising the use of available resources and developing a more environmentally
sustainable work culture.
