New Delhi, 28 October (H.S.): Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri has been named the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) candidate for the upcoming Rajya Sabha by-election in Madhya Pradesh. The seat fell vacant following the resignation of former Union Minister L. Murugan from the Union Council of Ministers and the Rajya Sabha. The by-election is scheduled to be held on November 12.

The BJP announced Hardeep Singh Puri’s candidature through an official press release on Wednesday.

Notably, Hardeep Singh Puri’s current term as a Rajya Sabha member from Uttar Pradesh is due to expire in November. His name was absent from the BJP’s recently announced list of candidates for the Rajya Sabha elections in Uttar Pradesh.
