Bhubaneswar, 27 October (H.S.): In view of the possible impact of Cyclone ‘Arnab’, the Cuttack district administration has stepped up preparedness measures, with Collector Dattatraya Bhausaheb Shinde ordering the closure of all educational institutions in the district tomorrow.

The decision comes as the cyclone approaches the Andhra Pradesh coast, prompting heightened vigilance across several districts of Odisha.

As part of the preparedness measures, the administration has readied 300 cyclone shelters across Cuttack district. People living in low-lying areas have been directed to move to safer locations as a precautionary measure.

Three Odisha Disaster Rapid Action Force (ODRAF) teams have been deployed in the district to respond to any emergency. The administration has also opened two control rooms to monitor the situation and coordinate relief and response measures.

Special arrangements have been made to ensure the safety of pregnant women, who have been directed to be shifted to safer places. Adequate stocks of food and drinking water have also been kept ready to meet the needs of people who may require shelter during the emergency.

Collector Shinde said the district administration had completed the necessary preparations to deal with the possible impact of the cyclone. The administration is maintaining vigilance and taking precautionary steps to minimise risks to life and property.
