Guwahati, 27 October (HS): Assam Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma on Tuesday said that the state government was taking a series of initiatives to strengthen the livestock sector as a key pillar of the rural economy.
In a social media post, Sarma said the government was encouraging farmers and entrepreneurs across various sectors, including cattle rearing, dairy production, poultry farming, egg production and goat rearing.
He said efforts were also being made to expand access to modern veterinary services, improve the availability of quality animal feed and facilitate the establishment of livestock-based enterprises.
According to the Chief Minister, these initiatives aim to transform traditional animal husbandry activities into commercially viable enterprises while increasing the income of rural households.
He further stated that the measures would promote women's entrepreneurship and create new employment opportunities at the local level, contributing to the overall development of Assam's rural economy.-----------
