SIROHI/JAIPUR, October 26(HS): Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) national president and Rajya Sabha member Nitin Nabin said the Brahma Kumaris institution’s 90-year spiritual journey stood as an inspiring example of service, spiritual discipline, peace and universal brotherhood.
Referring to the institution’s theme, ‘From Awakening to Action’,Nitin Nabin said awareness became meaningful only when individuals translated their thoughts into action and brought positive change to society through their conduct. Selfless service, dedication and cooperation, he said, were integral to Indian culture.
“Service should not merely be an activity or an event; it must become a part of our nature. Instead of focusing on ‘I’, we must work with a sense of ‘we’ for the welfare of society and the nation,” he said.
Nitin Nabin was addressing the Navdashakotsav and Global Summit organised at the Brahma Kumaris institution in Abu Road on Monday to mark its 90th Foundation Day.
He said the institution had transformed the sacred land of the Arbudanchal region into a prominent centre of yoga, meditation and spiritual awareness. Appreciating the role of women in the institution’s leadership, he noted that women had made significant contributions to knowledge, philosophy and spirituality in Indian tradition.
Referring to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of ‘women-led development’, rather than merely ‘women’s development’,Nitin Nabin said women’s leadership could play a vital role in giving society and the nation a new direction.
Highlighting the campaign against drug abuse, he said safeguarding the country’s future required keeping young people away from addiction. He called for the anti-drug campaign initiated under the Prime Minister’s leadership to be strengthened through wider public participation.
Nitin Nabin expressed confidence that joint efforts by the Brahma Kumaris institution and the government would help spread the message of a drug-free society on a larger scale.
He also said the Prime Minister’s vision of a developed India by 2047 should become a shared national resolve embraced by the country’s 1.4 billion citizens. Nation-building, he emphasised, was not the responsibility of governments alone but a duty shared by every citizen.
He urged people to adopt three key commitments: ensuring that value-based education reached every young person, working among communities with a spirit of service, and contributing to environmental protection by improving their relationship with nature.
Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma, who also addressed the gathering, said the International Day of Yoga had helped give India’s ancient yoga tradition global recognition through the Prime Minister’s initiative. He said the Brahma Kumaris institution was contributing to world peace and well-being through Rajyoga meditation.
Sharma said India was moving towards the goal of a developed nation in the spirit of ‘Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas’ (collective effort and inclusive development). He noted that India had conveyed the message of ‘One Earth, One Family, One Future’ to the world during its G20 presidency.
He also said the consecration of Ram Lalla in Ayodhya and development initiatives at Somnath, Kashi and Mahakal Lok had infused renewed energy into the country’s cultural consciousness.
The Chief Minister said the Rajasthan government, working in coordination with the Centre, was committed to spiritual development and environmental welfare across the state. He said efforts were underway to develop pilgrimage sites associated with temples, saints and folk deities, along with the creation of cultural and heritage panoramas.
Emphasising the values underlying Indian civilisation, Sharma referred to the Sanskrit expression ‘Sarve Bhavantu Sukhinah’, which expresses the wish that all beings may be happy. He said Indian culture sought the welfare of all living beings, nature and the environment, and recognised divinity in every living being.
He added that rivers such as the Ganga and Yamuna were revered as mothers, mountains such as Aburaj and Giriraj were regarded as sacred, and trees including the khejri and peepal held a special place in Indian tradition.
Sharma said the state government was continuously working under the Prime Minister’s guidance to promote the development of the Aburaj region. He added that coordination with the Central Government was underway for the development of an airstrip in the area. Improved connectivity and infrastructure, he said, would boost tourism and other economic activities in the region.
Earlier, BJP national president Nitin Nabin and Chief Minister Sharma meditated at Shantivan, the Brahma Kumaris institution’s campus in Abu Road, and prayed for public welfare.
BJP Rajasthan president and Rajya Sabha member Madan Rathore, Brahma Kumaris chief administrator Rajyogini Mohini Didi, additional secretary-general Rajyogi Dr B.K. Mrityunjay, other office-bearers and delegates from India and abroad were also present at the event.
