Vadodara, 26 October (H.S.):Jammu and Kashmir captain and veteran batter Paras Dogra has achieved a significant milestone in Indian domestic cricket, becoming only the second player to feature in 150 Ranji Trophy matches. Former India batter Wasim Jaffer was the first to reach the landmark.

Dogra achieved the feat on Monday during Jammu and Kashmir’s Ranji Trophy clash against Baroda at the Reliance Cricket Stadium in Vadodara.

Dogra has been a prolific run-scorer in Indian domestic cricket since the mid-2000s, establishing himself primarily through his performances for Himachal Pradesh and Jammu and Kashmir in the Ranji Trophy.

His most remarkable season came in 2012–13, when he scored five centuries in eight matches for Himachal Pradesh. During that campaign, he also achieved the rare feat of scoring centuries in three consecutive innings.

His consistent performances in domestic cricket earned him a place in the India A squad for a series of unofficial Test matches against the touring West Indies A team in 2013.

However, Dogra featured in only one match during the series and had just one opportunity to bat. He scored seven runs before being bowled by West Indies left-arm spinner Nikita Miller.

Dogra continued to demonstrate his batting prowess in subsequent seasons. During the 2015–16 season, he scored two double centuries in consecutive innings against Tripura and Services. These were the sixth and seventh double hundreds of his career at the time.

He finished that season with 703 runs at an impressive average of 78.11, further underlining his consistency and value as a dependable batter in domestic cricket.

Dogra has also featured in the Indian Premier League (IPL). He played regularly for Rajasthan Royals in the 2010 season, appearing in nine matches and recording a highest score of 41.

In 2012, he represented Kings XI Punjab in three matches before turning out for Kolkata Knight Riders in one match in 2013.

At the 2016 IPL auction, Gujarat Lions acquired him at his base price of Rs. 10 lakh.

Dogra’s achievement of playing 150 Ranji Trophy matches underscores his longevity and sustained contribution to Indian domestic cricket.
