Kolkata, 26 October (H.S.) : Setting the stage for the upcoming municipal elections in the state, Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari issued a stern challenge from Tamluk, asserting that the opposition will not be allowed to open its account in the Haldia municipal polls.
Addressing a public gathering, Adhikari emphasized the BJP's target to sweep all 30 seats in the Haldia civic body. Elections are due in the Haldia municipality. We will strategize in a day or two, and party workers from the entire district will plunge into the campaign, he stated, urging supporters to ensure the opposition is reduced to zero in the 30-seat municipality.
Drawing parallels with the BJP's record victory in Nandigram, located just across the Haldi river, the Chief Minister expressed unwavering confidence. Responding to media queries about whether the Nandigram success would be replicated in Haldia, he remarked, I will not let them even open their account. Mark my words, the people are with me.
Highlighting the BJP's electoral trajectory, Adhikari noted that the party formed the state government with a 46 percent vote share and now aims to secure over 60 percent in all upcoming elections. He stated that the party's growing dominance has already been proven in the Falta by-elections, Rejinagar, and Nandigram, and predicted similar sweeps in future corporation, municipality, and panchayat polls.
Echoing the Chief Minister's sentiments, Malay Sinha, the BJP president of the Tamluk organizational district, dismissed the Trinamool Congress's (TMC) political prospects in the region. How will they open their account? They have no existence left. They couldn't even field candidates in Nandigram. There is no question of them winning anything, Sinha stated.
