Kolkata, 26 October (H.S.) : West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari launched a scathing dual attack on the preceding regimes of the state, sharply criticizing both the 34-year rule of the CPI(M)-led Left Front and the 15-year tenure of the Trinamool Congress (TMC).
The remarks were made on Monday following a 'Bhumi Pujan' (groundbreaking ceremony) for a new BJP party office in the Tamluk organizational district. The expansive office is set to be constructed on approximately 33.5 decimals of land in Kakgachia, Tamluk. The foundation stone-laying ceremony was conducted in the presence of the Chief Minister, complete with Vedic rituals and a 'Havan'.
Addressing the gathering after the ceremony, Adhikari leveled serious allegations against the erstwhile TMC government, claiming they had systematically attempted to turn West Bengal into a Greater Bangladesh over the past 15 years.
Turning his guns on the Left, the Chief Minister took a jibe at their political allegiances. He claimed that the ancestors of the Left leaders who ruled the state for over three decades came from across the border. Mocking their current political engagements, Adhikari remarked that Left leaders in the state are busy celebrating political victories in Brazil.
You will never find portraits of Swami Vivekananda, Khudiram Bose, or Matangini Hazra in their homes, Adhikari stated sarcastically, asserting that they prefer adorning their walls with pictures of foreign leaders instead.
