New Delhi, 26 October (H.S.): Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge has appealed to people to participate in large numbers in the ‘Vote Bachao, Desh Bachao’ rally scheduled to be held at Delhi’s Ramlila Maidan on November 1, where the party and other opposition groups will demand the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar and an immediate halt to the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) process.
In a video message posted on social media platform X on Monday, Kharge said people were grappling with crippling inflation during the festive season, while the government remained unconcerned about their difficulties. He also claimed that the constitutional right to vote of millions of Indians was under threat and held Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar responsible.
Kharge said all opposition parties were demanding Kumar’s resignation and an immediate suspension of the SIR exercise. He urged people to join the ‘Vote Bachao, Desh Bachao’ mega rally at Ramlila Maidan on November 1 to press for these demands.
