Bhubaneswar, 26 October (H.S.): BJP National Secretary and Odisha co-in-charge Dr Swadesh Singh has criticised Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge over his remarks concerning Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s father, alleging that the statement appeared to be part of a calculated strategy rather than an outburst made in the heat of the moment.

In a reaction posted on social media, Singh said that ridiculing constitutional institutions, questioning their credibility and making statements that could create an atmosphere of chaos in the country weakened democracy.

Targeting Kharge and other opposition leaders, Singh alleged that they were operating under the influence of a “foreign toolkit”. He cautioned those engaging in politics that allegedly promotes disorder, saying they should recognise that playing with the fire of chaos could ultimately prove harmful to them as well.

Singh’s remarks came amid a political controversy over Kharge’s statement concerning the Prime Minister’s father.
