Lucknow, 25 October (HS.): The One Time Settlement Scheme

(OTS), launched by the Yogi government to financially empower urban bodies and

provide relief to taxpayers in settling old dues, is receiving widespread

public support. One lakh 71 thousand 166 applications have been received so far

under this scheme, implemented in all 762 urban bodies of the state. Of these,

one lakh 33 thousand 589 applications have been approved, while 34 thousand 801

applications are in process.

Through this scheme of the Yogi government, eligible

taxpayers are being provided relief in settling pending house tax, water tax,

and sewer tax dues. Against a demand of Rs 312.94 crore under the scheme, Rs

72.96 crore has been recovered so far, while eligible beneficiaries have been

provided relief of Rs 116.43 crore. One lakh 33 thousand 589 beneficiaries have

received direct benefit from this.

The highest number of applications for residential

properties: Residential properties have the highest share in the applications

received under the scheme operated in the state's 17 municipal corporations,

200 municipal councils and 545 town panchayats. So far, 1,42,274 applications

have been received for residential properties. Meanwhile, 15,999 applications

are for commercial properties and 12,889 applications are for other categories

of properties. Under the scheme, an average relief of approximately Rs 8,715.37

has been received per beneficiary.

For taxpayers' convenience, the Yogi government has also

provided the option to pay outstanding amounts under the scheme in up to three

installments. This will facilitate taxpayers who find it difficult to make

lump-sum payments to settle their past dues. The scheme is operational from

August 15, 2026, and eligible taxpayers can avail of its benefits until

December 15, 2026.

People are being made aware through special camps: The Urban

Development Department is organizing special camps in various urban bodies to

inform citizens about the scheme's eligibility, application process, and the

relief available. Emphasis is being placed on making the application and

disposal process simple, transparent, and timely. The department has appealed

to eligible taxpayers to take advantage of the scheme and settle their pending

tax dues within the stipulated timeframe. This government initiative is providing

relief to citizens and also helping to increase the revenue of municipal bodies

and strengthen their financial self-reliance. The departmental portal,

upulbots.in , can be used for information and application regarding the scheme.
