Three Minor Girls Rescued At Guwahati Railway Station Under Operation Nanhe Farishte

Guwahati, 25 October (HS): Three minor girls from Assam’s Charaideo district were rescued by railway personnel at Guwahati Railway Station on Sunday under Operation Nanhe Farishte after they allegedly travelled to the city for sightseeing without informing their parents.

The girls, aged 15, 16 and 17, were found on Platform No. 4 during an operation conducted by the Crime Prevention and Detection Squad (CPDS). The rescue team was led by Sub-Inspector RK Dubey, along with other railway personnel.

During preliminary questioning, the girls reportedly disclosed that they had left their homes without informing their parents and travelled to Guwahati to explore the city.

The rescued minors were identified as Baby Paul, 16, and Priya Paul, 15, daughters of Bibhash Paul, and Riya Paul, 17, daughter of Bidyut Paul. All three hail from Looholiya under Borhat Police Station in Charaideo district.

Following the rescue, railway officials completed the necessary formalities and handed over the girls to the Chairperson of the Child Welfare Committee (CWC), Kamrup (Metro), through Railway Childline, Guwahati, for safe custody and further necessary action.

Operation Nanhe Farishte is a railway initiative designed to identify and rescue children requiring care and protection at railway stations and aboard trains. The programme facilitates the referral of vulnerable children to the appropriate child welfare authorities to ensure their safety and well-being.------------
