Guwahati, 25 October (HS): The Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) will observe Vigilance Awareness Week from October 26 to November 1 under the theme “Probity for Prosperity”, reaffirming its commitment to integrity, transparency and accountability in railway administration.

NFR CPRO Kapinjal Kishor Sharma informed on Sunday that the week-long observance, organised in line with the guidelines of the Central Vigilance Commission, will feature various awareness programmes involving railway employees, students and the general public to promote ethical conduct and collective efforts against corruption.

The programme will commence on October 26 with the administration of the Integrity Pledge at the NFR headquarters and the office of the General Manager (Construction) at Maligaon. Walkathons will also be organised at both locations to spread awareness about honesty and the importance of collective responsibility in combating corruption.

A street play will be staged at Kamakhya Coaching Depot on October 27 to further strengthen public awareness about vigilance. On October 28, a Vigilance Bulletin will be released, followed by a workshop on “Preventive Vigilance in Contract Management”, focusing on transparency and measures to prevent irregularities in the execution of works and contract management.

As part of the initiative to engage students, essay and drawing competitions will be organised at Netaji Railway School, Maligaon, on October 29 and Railway Higher Secondary School, Maligaon, on October 30. The competitions will encourage students to understand and promote the values of honesty and integrity.

The observance is part of a three-month preventive vigilance campaign being conducted across NFR headquarters, divisions and the construction organisation from August 17 to November 16, 2026.

Through these initiatives, NFR aims to strengthen preventive vigilance, promote ethical practices in day-to-day operations and enhance public confidence in a transparent, accountable and citizen-oriented railway administration.------------
