Jorhat, 25 October (HS): Jorhat Police have arrested a man identified as Ahmed Ali, also known as Dr Yakub Ali Ahmed, for allegedly treating patients using fake medical credentials.

According to police, the accused was working as an ICU in-charge at City Orthopedic Hospital in Jorhat. The alleged fraud came to light after concerns were raised over his qualifications and his role in treating patients in the sensitive intensive care unit without possessing a recognised MBBS degree or valid medical credentials.

Police detained the accused and initiated an investigation into the matter. Officials also stated that he had allegedly been arrested earlier in Chabua in connection with a similar case involving suspected fake medical credentials.

The police are investigating the circumstances under which the accused was employed at the hospital and whether any other individuals were involved in the alleged malpractice. Further details are awaited as the investigation progresses.-----------
