Mumbai, 25 October (H.S.): All-rounder Shardul Thakur will miss Mumbai’s third-round Ranji Trophy fixture against Haryana due to injury, extending his absence from the domestic tournament. The match is scheduled to begin on Monday at the Bandra Kurla Complex (BKC) in Mumbai.

Thakur, who was also unavailable for Mumbai’s first two matches, sustained an injury to the middle finger of his right hand during a practice session ahead of the opening round. Medical examinations confirmed a fracture, with initial assessments indicating that he would miss at least the first two rounds.

Mumbai had hoped that the all-rounder would regain fitness in time for the third fixture. However, he is not yet ready to return to competitive action, although he continues to train with the squad.

According to ESPNcricinfo, Mumbai have retained the same squad that defeated Himachal Pradesh by an innings and bonus points in their previous match in Bilaspur. The team management has opted against making any changes ahead of the Haryana encounter.

Thakur was also seen alongside India batter Suryakumar Yadav at a Major League Baseball event in Mumbai on Saturday evening.

Mumbai will continue to manage their squad amid several player-availability concerns. Newly appointed vice-captain Ayush Mhatre is sidelined with a hamstring injury, while Yashasvi Jaiswal is in New Zealand, where he is expected to feature in Test matches following the ongoing India A series.

Before their second-round fixture, Mumbai had added opening batter Angkrish Raghuvanshi and all-rounder Suryansh Shedge to the squad as additional players.

Despite these absences, Mumbai have made a strong start to their Ranji Trophy campaign and currently occupy the top position in Elite Group D with 14 points. The team will look to maintain its momentum against Haryana while awaiting the return of its injured players.
