Ayodhya, Oct 25 (HS): Ayodhya and Ujjain
have consistently established
and shattered records for illuminating
vast quantities
of earthen lamps (diyas) during the Deepotsav and Mahashivratri festivities. Continuing the tradition of world records in lighting lamps, the
city of Ram (Ayodhya) is now preparing to create a new history. Ujjain set a
world record by lighting 33.27 lakh lamps on September 17, the birthday of
Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Now, the target has been set to light 30 lakh
lamps during the Deepotsav in Ayodhya. Upon achieving this target, Ayodhya will
become the second largest city in the world for lighting the maximum number of
lamps simultaneously.
On November 7, the target has been set to
light 30 lakh lamps on the 56 ghats of the Saryu river bank. 33 lakh lamps are
being procured for this purpose. The Deepotsav began in 2017 with the lighting
of 1,87,213 lamps. In the very first year, Ayodhya broke Ujjain's record of
lighting 1.51 lakh lamps. During Deepotsav, 3,01,152 lamps were lit in 2018,
4,04,026 in 2019 and 6,06,569 in 2020.
Ayodhya created a new record by lighting
9,41,551 lamps in the year 2021. After this, Ujjain broke Ayodhya's record by
lighting 11,71,078 lamps on Mahashivratri in the year 2022. In the same year,
Ayodhya again created a new record by lighting 15,76,955 lamps. In the year
2023, 18,82,229 lamps were lit in Ujjain, but Ayodhya surpassed this record by
lighting 22,23,000 lamps in the same year. In the year 2024, 5.51 lakh lamps
were lit in Ujjain. Whereas, more than 25,12,000 lamps were lit in Ayodhya. In
the year 2025, a Guinness World Record was created by lighting 26,17,215 lamps
on 56 ghats of Ramnagari (Ayodhya0.
A world record was created on PM's
birthday: On September 17 this year , on the 76th birthday of Prime Minister
Narendra Modi , a record of 33,27,125 lamps were lit on the banks of the Shipra
River in Ujjain, Madhya Pradesh. In such a situation, the target of lighting 30
lakh lamps in Ayodhya this time is less than Ujjain's record. However,
Ramnagari is preparing to light about 3.83 lakh lamps more than its last year's
record of 26.17 lakh lamps. To surpass Ujjain's record, Ayodhya will have to
light about 33.28 lakh lamps.
