Guwahati, 25 October (HS): The Assam government has digitised and automated the pension process to make retirement easier, more transparent and secure for government employees, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said in a social media post on Sunday.

According to the Chief Minister, the pension processing system now begins 12 months before an employee's retirement, eliminating the need for manual applications. Employees are also no longer required to travel to Guwahati to submit service record details.

The pension approval process is being completed through digital verification and secure technology, with Pension Payment Orders (PPOs) delivered directly to employees' DigiLocker accounts.

Sarma said more than 11,047 government employees had already benefited from the system, while over 3,970 employees had received their PPOs before their final day of service.

He said the government's objective was to ensure transparency, efficiency and convenience for citizens through the use of technology at every level of public service.-----------
