Mumbai, 24 October (H.S.): The release of the second instalment of Ramayana, starring Ranbir Kapoor and Sai Pallavi, may be postponed until 2028, according to media reports, even as anticipation builds for the first part of the ambitious cinematic adaptation of the Indian epic.

The sequel, directed by Nitesh Tiwari, was reportedly scheduled for release during Diwali 2027. However, the timeline could be revised to allow the production team additional time to complete the film and deliver a visually spectacular cinematic experience. The makers have not yet officially confirmed any change to the release schedule.

According to a source familiar with the project, producer Namit Malhotra regards Ramayana as more than just a film, viewing it as a deeply personal and ambitious undertaking. He is reportedly committed to ensuring that the epic earns international recognition and resonates with audiences across the world.

While the release of the first instalment is approaching, the second part is understood to require additional time for filming and post-production. Reports suggest that the development of the action sequences is taking longer than initially anticipated, with the filmmakers working to incorporate new and more elaborate set pieces.

The proposed additions are expected to expand the scale of the sequel, requiring further work on its production and visual execution. Rather than rushing the process to meet the original release window, the team is reportedly prioritising the film's overall quality, technical precision and cinematic grandeur.

Through Ramayana, Malhotra aims to bring the Indian epic to a global audience on an unprecedented cinematic scale. The production's emphasis on visual spectacle and elaborate action sequences is understood to be central to that ambition.

However, the revised release timeline remains unconfirmed, and the makers have yet to announce when the sequel's final release date will be disclosed. Audiences will have to await an official statement for clarity on the film's schedule.
