Guwahati, 24 October (HS): The Assam unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has appointed senior party functionary Purabi Roy as the state president of its Mahila Morcha, the party's women's wing.

BJP Assam state president Dilip Saikia announced the organisational appointment in an official letter dated October 24, 2026. The letter stated that Purabi Roy had been appointed to the post in recognition of her seniority and contribution to the party.

Saikia congratulated Roy on her new responsibility and expressed confidence that she would discharge her duties with dedication and sincerity.

Copies of the appointment letter were forwarded to BJP national vice-president and Mahila Morcha in-charge Rupam Kumari Chaudhuri, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, the party's state general secretary (organisation), Assam minister Nandita Garlosa and other concerned leaders.----------
