Prayagraj, Oct 24 (HS): As part of an ongoing campaign by
the 1 UP Naval NCC cadets—aimed at raising public awareness regarding the
cleanliness of the Ganga, water conservation, environmental protection, and
service to the nation—a morning procession (prabhat pheri) was organized today
in Sirsa village. During the event, the cadets traversed various streets of the
village, engaging with residents and the youth to sensitize them about the
importance of cleanliness, the preservation of the Ganga, and the value of
serving the nation.
Throughout the procession, the campaign team staged street
plays (nukkad nataks) at several key locations within the village. Through
these performances, villagers were educated about the adverse effects of filth,
the significance of hygiene, and practical ways to maintain a clean
environment. The cadets urged the villagers to ensure cleanliness in their
homes, streets, and public spaces, and to dispose of waste only in designated
areas.
Addressing the villagers on this occasion, the Commanding
Officer of the 1 UP Naval NCC highlighted the importance of keeping the Ganga
clean and preserved. He emphasized that the Ganga is a vital natural and
cultural heritage, and that maintaining its cleanliness and keeping it free
from pollution is the collective responsibility of every citizen. He called
upon the villagers to refrain from dumping waste into the river or other water
sources, to practice water conservation, and to maintain cleanliness in their
surroundings. He further noted that public participation and individual
responsibility are essential to achieving the goal of a clean Ganga.
During the campaign, the cadets also interacted with the
village youth, encouraging them to pursue careers in the Indian Armed Forces
and other defense services. By highlighting the importance of discipline,
physical fitness, dedication, leadership, and patriotism, they inspired the
youth to come forward and serve the nation. The objective of this campaign is
to raise awareness about cleanliness and environmental conservation in rural
areas, ensure public participation in the preservation of the Ganga River, and
inspire the youth toward service to the nation.
Through morning processions (prabhat pheris), street plays,
and public interactions, NCC cadets conveyed a message regarding social
responsibility and civic duties. After completing the planned awareness activities
in Sirsa village, the campaign team departed today for Parwa village. In the
next phase of the campaign, the team will engage with the villagers and youth
in Parwa village to further promote awareness initiatives concerning the
cleanliness of the Ganga, water conservation, environmental protection, and
service to the nation. Thus, this campaign by the NCC cadets continues to make
progress toward sensitizing the rural community about cleanliness and
environmental conservation, while fostering a spirit of service to the nation
among the younger generation, informed Wg Cdr Debartho Dhar, Pro &
Spokesperson, Ministry of Defence, Prayagraj.
