New Delhi, 24 October (H.S.): Hereditary Prince Alois of Liechtenstein will undertake a four-day state visit to India from Sunday, October 25, with a focus on expanding bilateral cooperation in trade, investment, science, technology and innovation.
The visit, at the invitation of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, is expected to provide an opportunity for the two countries to strengthen their bilateral partnership and explore new avenues of cooperation.
According to a statement issued by the Ministry of External Affairs on Saturday, the Hereditary Prince, who serves as the acting head of state of the Principality of Liechtenstein, will be in India from October 25 to 28. He will be accompanied by his wife, Princess Sophie, senior officials and a business delegation comprising prominent industry representatives.
This will be Prince Alois's second visit to India in 2026. He had earlier travelled to New Delhi in February to attend the AI Impact Summit. He has also visited India in 2010 and 2018.
During the upcoming visit, Prime Minister Modi and Prince Alois will hold bilateral discussions on strengthening cooperation across a range of sectors, including trade, investment, science, technology, innovation and people-to-people exchanges. The two leaders are also expected to exchange views on regional and global developments of mutual interest.
Prince Alois will call on President Droupadi Murmu, who will host an official banquet in his honour. External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar is also scheduled to meet the visiting dignitary.
The Ministry of External Affairs noted that bilateral relations between India and Liechtenstein have gained momentum following the implementation of the India-European Free Trade Association (EFTA) Trade and Economic Partnership Agreement in 2025. The agreement has opened up further opportunities to strengthen economic engagement and expand commercial ties between the two sides.
The visit is expected to provide fresh impetus to the growing partnership, deepen the longstanding friendly relations between the two countries and identify additional areas for mutually beneficial cooperation.
