Kannur, 24 Oct (H.S.):

CPM leader P P Divya has written to the party’s central leadership seeking a review of disciplinary measures against her, alleging that some leaders are obstructing her return to active organisational work.

In her letter, Divya also questioned her removal from positions in the All India Democratic Women’s Association (AIDWA), describing the decisions as retaliatory. She said that after being removed as state joint secretary, she was prevented from working at the association’s district centre.

Divya alleged that AIDWA district secretary P K Shyamala had removed her from responsibilities at the district centre. According to the letter, the decision was taken without even the knowledge of the CPM district leadership. She sought a reconsideration of these measures and the restrictions on her organisational participation.

CPM general secretary M A Baby confirmed receiving the letter and said the matter could be discussed. He also said he had spoken to Divya over the telephone. However, no decision on her requests has been announced.

The letter reached the central leadership shortly before an expanded district committee meeting, bringing her grievances into focus ahead of the deliberations.

Divya was earlier demoted from the CPM Kannur district committee to the Irinavu branch following the death of Naveen Babu. Her appeal now seeks a review of the subsequent decisions affecting her role within the party and its women’s organisation.

Meanwhile, the Kerala government has ordered a Vigilance investigation into allegations concerning a contract awarded to Carton India during Divya’s tenure as Kannur district panchayat president.

The complaint alleged that the company received the contract without a tender process. The investigation will examine the alleged irregularities in awarding the work.

The Vigilance probe concerns separate allegations and comes as Divya presses the CPM leadership to reconsider the organisational action against her. The allegations remain subject to investigation.
