BJP MP aims transforming Kanpur into a premier IT hub

Kanpur, October 24 (HS): To develop Kanpur as an IT hub, a

future action plan will be formulated based on suggestions from experts at

technical institutions. A meeting will soon be held with the IT ministers of

the central and state governments in this regard, Rajya Sabha MP Prakash Pal said.

BJP MP Prakash Pal visited the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kanpur on

Thursday and discussed with the institute's professors the possibilities of

developing an IT hub in the city. The meeting, which lasted about an hour,

discussed issues such as expanding the IT sector, utilizing technical

resources, and creating new employment opportunities for the youth. Dean of

Resources and Alumni Professor Amey Karkare, Professor Ankush Sharma, and

Professor Jayant Singh, along with other experts, were present at the meeting.

Prakash Pal said that by better utilizing Kanpur's

industrial identity and the potential of its existing educational and technical

institutions, the city can gain a new identity in the field of information

technology. The development of an IT hub will provide employment and

entrepreneurial opportunities for local youth in the fields of software,

digital technology, and startups. This could also accelerate the city's

economic development.

He stated that suggestions received from experts at IIT

Kanpur will be incorporated into the proposed action plan. To further this

issue, efforts will also be made to inform Prime Minister Narendra Modi about

the need and potential for an IT hub in Kanpur.

The meeting also discussed spreading the benefits of organic

fertilizers to farmers and raising awareness about their use. Prakash Pal said

that along with technological advancement, it is also important to focus on the

prosperity of farmers. With the guidance of scientists and experts, useful

alternatives can be promoted in the agricultural sector. During this, BJP's

regional media in-charge Anoop Awasthi, regional minister Virendra Tiwari and

former district president Deepu Pandey were present.
