New Delhi, 23 October (H.S.): India has said that the situation along the Line of Actual Control (LAC) with China is periodically disrupted when Chinese troops deviate from established patrolling patterns. In such circumstances, both sides continue to rely on diplomatic and military channels to resolve outstanding issues and prevent misunderstandings.

Addressing a press briefing on Friday, Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said that the situation in the India-China border areas periodically becomes disturbed when Chinese forces move away from previously established patrolling practices.

He said both countries continued to use existing diplomatic and military mechanisms to address unresolved issues along the LAC and avoid misunderstandings or miscalculations. The two sides have also agreed to discuss ways to improve their understanding of the LAC in appropriate areas to strengthen border management, he added.

Jaiswal referred to the ongoing efforts to improve mutual understanding of the LAC and stressed that peace and stability in the border areas were essential for advancing bilateral relations between India and China.

The remarks came after Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) Director General Shatrujeet Kapur said that face-offs with Chinese forces had occurred at several locations in Arunachal Pradesh. His comments drew attention to the continuing operational challenges along parts of the India-China frontier.

India has consistently maintained that peace and tranquillity along the border are essential for the broader development of bilateral relations, while both countries continue to engage through established diplomatic and military mechanisms to manage differences.
