Guwahati, 23 October (HS): Kaziranga National Park has achieved a significant milestone in wildlife conservation by completing 1,000 consecutive days without rhino poaching, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said.
In a social media post, Sarma credited the achievement to sustained efforts by authorities to protect the park’s iconic one-horned rhinoceroses and maintain a firm stance against poaching.
The chief minister said rhinos in Kaziranga had remained safe from poaching for more than three years, reflecting continued efforts to strengthen wildlife protection in the state. He also expressed the government’s commitment to sustaining the record in the coming days.
A UNESCO World Heritage Site, Kaziranga National Park is globally renowned for its population of the endangered one-horned rhinoceros. The latest milestone highlights the importance of sustained conservation measures and anti-poaching initiatives in safeguarding Assam’s rich wildlife heritage.-----------
