Mumbai, October 23 (H.S.): New details have emerged about the third instalment of the popular Kangana Ranaut and R. Madhavan-starrer Tanu Weds Manu franchise. Tentatively referred to as Tanu Weds Manu: The Next Chapter, the upcoming film may introduce a fresh line-up of young actors, offering audiences a new perspective on the much-loved cinematic universe.

According to director Mitakshara Kumar, the film will introduce a new chapter within the established world of Tanu Weds Manu, rather than simply continuing the stories of its existing characters. However, no official announcement has yet been made regarding the cast or release date.

Speaking about the project, Kumar said that despite featuring a younger and relatively fresh cast, the film would retain the distinctive eccentricity and irreverent spirit associated with the Tanu Weds Manu universe.

According to a source associated with the project, the team has been working on the screenplay for the past year. The objective is to develop a distinct storyline featuring new characters while preserving the franchise’s characteristic boldness, humour and unconventional storytelling style. This approach is expected to give the filmmakers an opportunity to explore fresh narratives and relationships within an already established cinematic world.

Directed by Aanand L. Rai, Tanu Weds Manu was released in 2011 and featured Kangana Ranaut and R. Madhavan in the lead roles. The pairing struck a chord with audiences, helping the film establish a distinctive identity through its humour and portrayal of complicated relationships.

The sequel, Tanu Weds Manu Returns, arrived in 2015 and went on to achieve considerable box-office success. Both films earned recognition for their comedy, relationship-driven conflicts and memorable characters.

With the third instalment, the filmmakers are reportedly looking to carry the popular franchise forward by introducing a new generation of performers while retaining the distinctive flavour that made the original films popular.
