Itanagar, Oct 23

(H.S.): Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu has reviewed

preparations for the exposition of the sacred relics of Lord Buddha, which will

be held in Tawang, Bomdila and Namsai from October 31 to November 20.

In a social media post, Khandu said the state government was

committed to providing devotees with a peaceful and spiritually enriching

environment to pay homage to the relics and seek blessings.

Describing the exposition as an event of immense historical

and spiritual significance, the chief minister said it transcended a religious

gathering by bringing together faith, humanity and the timeless teachings of

Lord Buddha. He expressed hope that the event would become a landmark occasion

for Arunachal Pradesh.

Meanwhile, preparations have been intensified in West Kameng

district for the exposition at TGL Monastery, also known as Lower Gompa, in

Bomdila, where the relics will be displayed from November 8 to 14.

Dirang MLA Phurpa Tsering attended a review meeting to

assess the arrangements, with discussions focusing on transportation,

accommodation, traffic management, road conditions and coordination among

various departments.

Stressing the need for timely execution, Tsering urged all

departments to complete their assigned responsibilities within the stipulated

deadlines. He said decisions taken during coordination meetings must translate

into concrete action on the ground to ensure the smooth conduct of the event.

The MLA also emphasised the need to ensure that residents

from across the district, including those living in remote and far-flung

villages, get an opportunity to pay homage to the sacred relics.

He called on the administration to make adequate

transportation arrangements to facilitate the movement of devotees to the

venue.

Kalaktang MLA Tseten Chombey urged the authorities to impose

a ban on animal slaughter in Bomdila during the exposition.

West Kameng Deputy Commissioner Dilip Kumar and Padma Shri

awardee Guru Tulku Rinpoche also offered suggestions to ensure the smooth and

successful conduct of the event.

The exposition is expected to provide devotees an

opportunity to connect with Buddhist spiritual traditions and teachings, with

the state government and district administration working to coordinate

arrangements across the three venues.
