Mumbai, October 23 (H.S.): Actor Anil Kapoor became emotional as he reminisced about his late friend, actor and filmmaker Satish Kaushik. In an upcoming episode of the television show India’s Top 1% – The Anil Kapoor Show, Kapoor shared cherished memories of his longtime friend while meeting Gagan, a contestant whose appearance closely resembles that of Kaushik.

Gagan revealed that people frequently compare his looks to those of Satish Kaushik. He also recounted his experience of meeting the late actor while he was shooting for the television series Sumit Sambhal Lega in Delhi. The recollection prompted Kapoor to revisit fond memories of his friendship with Kaushik.

Reflecting on their bond, Kapoor said his relationship with Kaushik was difficult to describe in words. He recalled that Kaushik often praised his talent and affectionately referred to him as “Danny DeVito”. The two shared a fondness for the film Twins and would imagine themselves playing twin brothers together.

“If I could have a twin brother, it would only be Satish, because he knew everything about me—my anger, my happiness, everything. He knew me extremely well,” Kapoor said.

His heartfelt recollections offered a glimpse into the profound emotional connection and mutual understanding that defined their friendship.

The programme also featured moments of humour amid the emotional conversation. Kapoor and Gagan recreated one of Satish Kaushik’s popular dialogues: “My name is Calendar, and I am going into the kitchen!” The line is associated with Kaushik’s memorable character Calendar from the Mr India film franchise.

Pleased with Gagan’s performance, Kapoor told him, “You have won my heart.” In a light-hearted moment, he added that if someone were willing to make a film inspired by Twins, they could cast him and Gagan as twin brothers.

India’s Top 1% – The Anil Kapoor Show airs every Saturday and Sunday at 8 p.m. on Star Plus and JioHotstar.
