Lucknow, 22 Oct (HS): Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi
Adityanath paid respect to Ashfaqulla Khan, the renowned freedom fighter, on
the occasion of his birth anniversary. On August 9, 1925, he played a major
part in the famous Kakori train heist, taking British government treasury
monies to support India's military liberation war. His friendship with fellow
revolutionary Pandit Ram Prasad Bismil is seen as a historic emblem of unity
and communal peace. On December 19, 1927, he was killed by hanging by British
colonial overlords, becoming a martyr at the age of 27.
In a post on X, UP CM mentioned, “On the birth anniversary
of Ashfaqulla Khan, the immortal hero of the 'Kakori Train Action' who offered
his all with a smile for the freedom of Mother India, humble tribute. His
sacrifice for the motherland is the immortal saga of that national spirit,
where the country is greater than life and freedom greater than breath.”
