Dibrugarh (Assam), 22 October (HS): Two youths were killed in a road accident near Dibrugarh University in the early hours of Thursday.
According to reports, the vehicle was travelling from Dibrugarh town towards Barbarua when it rammed into a tree. The deceased have been identified as Rishiraj Maut (20), a resident of Tinsukia, and Lakshyajyoti Phukan (21), from Tingkhong.
Both youths reportedly sustained serious injuries in the accident and remained unattended on the roadside until morning, as there was very little movement of people in the area at that hour.
After a considerable delay, local residents informed the police, who reached the accident site and shifted the injured youths to a hospital. However, doctors examined them and declared both dead.
The incident has once again highlighted the risks associated with road accidents during the early hours, when limited traffic and delayed assistance can complicate rescue efforts.-----------
