Aichi-Nagoya, October 22 (H.S.): India’s impressive performance continued at the 2026 Asian Para Games, with swimmer Kapil Kumar winning the silver medal in the men’s 400m freestyle S10 event, while badminton star Pramod Bhagat advanced to the final of the men’s singles SL3 category. Bhagat will face compatriot Nitesh Kumar, the Paris Paralympic champion, in the title clash, ensuring that India will secure the gold medal in the event.

Kapil Kumar finished second in the men’s 400m freestyle S10 event with a time of 4 minutes 38.44 seconds. Japan’s Akito Minai claimed the gold medal, clocking 4 minutes 27.44 seconds, while Iran’s Shahin Izadiyar secured bronze with a time of 4 minutes 38.65 seconds.

Meanwhile, in the men’s singles SL3 badminton semi-final, Pramod Bhagat defeated South Korea’s Lee Seung-ho 16-21, 21-18, 21-17 to book his place in the final.

Bhagat lost the opening game but fought back to win the second and force a decider. In the deciding game, he staged an impressive comeback after falling 0-7 behind, eventually turning the contest around to secure victory and advance to the title match.

Bhagat will now face fellow Indian Nitesh Kumar in the final, setting up an all-Indian showdown for the gold medal at the 2026 Asian Para Games.
