Barpeta (Assam), 22 October (HS): One person was killed and another seriously injured in a road accident in the Bajali area of Assam’s Barpeta district, police said on Thursday.

According to police, the accident occurred late Wednesday night in the Kenduguri area of Bajali when a speeding motorcycle went out of control and crashed into an electric pole.

One of the youths riding the motorcycle died on the spot due to the impact, while the other sustained serious injuries.

The deceased has been identified as Navjit Talukdar. Following information about the accident, a police team rushed to the spot and rescued the injured youth. He was subsequently shifted to a hospital for treatment.

Meanwhile, police took custody of the deceased’s body and sent it to a hospital for post-mortem examination.

Police have registered a case in connection with the incident and initiated an investigation to ascertain the circumstances leading to the accident.------------
