Kamrup (Assam), 21 October (HS): A retired Railway Protection Force (RPF) employee died while undergoing treatment after he and his son were allegedly attacked with knives over a land dispute in Hajo in Assam’s Kamrup (Rural) district. His son, who also sustained serious injuries in the attack, remains in critical condition and has been shifted to Gauhati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) for advanced treatment.

The deceased has been identified as Safed Ali, while his injured son is Rahul Ali, alias Moon, a sub-inspector with the Assam Police Radio Organisation (APRO).

According to information, the incident took place on Tuesday evening when Mintu Ali was transporting soil from his agricultural field using a tractor. Safed Ali allegedly tried to prevent the soil from being removed, triggering a confrontation. Members of Mintu Ali’s family allegedly attacked Safed Ali with knives, leaving him critically injured.

When Rahul Ali reached the spot after learning about the incident, he was also allegedly attacked by the same group and sustained serious injuries.

Both father and son were initially admitted to Narayana Hospital in Changsari. However, Safed Ali succumbed to his injuries late Tuesday night, while Rahul Ali was subsequently shifted to GMCH for advanced medical care.

Police have arrested four accused in connection with the alleged murder. They have been identified as Mintu Ali, Rufia Begum, Jumi Begum and Raj Ahmed. Two other suspects are reportedly absconding.

Dadra police are conducting a detailed investigation into the incident, while efforts are underway to apprehend the remaining suspects. Tension continues to prevail in the area following the incident, police sources said.------------
