Prayagraj, 21 Oct (HS): Dinesh Talwar, a resident of Meerut
who has been campaigning for the past 32 years demanding control over the country's
growing population, began his march from the District Magistrate's office in
Prayagraj. Holding a placard demanding population control, he interacted with
people on the city streets and urged them to make their voices heard by Prime
Minister Narendra Modi. Dinesh Talwar submitted a memorandum to the Prime
Minister at the District Magistrate's office, demanding the enactment of a
population control law in the country. He urged people to also write to the
Prime Minister, demanding concrete action on this serious national issue.
Dinesh Talwar, with the support of his wife Disha Talwar and
family, has been campaigning for population control across the country for the
past 32 years. During this time, he has walked in more than 400 cities and sent
thousands of letters to the government and the Prime Minister. He says that he
writes to the Prime Minister every day, demanding a population control law.
According to Dinesh Talwar, over the past 32 years, he has
repeatedly requested appointments with various Prime Ministers to discuss this
issue, but has never had the opportunity to meet with them in person to present
his views. Despite this, he has continued his campaign and attempted to convey
his demands to the government through every possible means, from the streets to
correspondence. As part of his unique protest and awareness campaign, Dinesh
Talwar sometimes walks backwards and sometimes walks forward to draw people's
attention to the issue.
