New Delhi, 21 October (H.S.): Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) National President Nitin Nabin said on Wednesday that the objectives and ideals underpinning the establishment of the Bharatiya Jana Sangh were being realised under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He said the Jana Sangh’s ideas continued to guide the country’s political discourse and governance framework.
Speaking to reporters during an event marking the 75th anniversary of the Bharatiya Jana Sangh, the BJP’s predecessor organisation, Nabin said it was a matter of great privilege that the organisation, founded by Dr Syama Prasad Mookerjee with a specific purpose and mission, had completed 75 years of its journey. Describing the journey as a successful one, he said the ideas and objectives with which the Jana Sangh had begun its work continued to shape India’s politics and governance.
The BJP president said the key objectives behind the establishment of the Jana Sangh included strengthening the foundations of cultural nationalism, advancing the spirit of ‘Ek Bharat, Shreshtha Bharat’ (One India, Great India), and ensuring that the benefits of development reached the last person in society. Establishing a transparent government and a system of good governance were also among its core ideals.
Nabin said efforts were being made under Prime Minister Modi’s leadership to fulfil these objectives. Government schemes were being implemented with the aim of extending the benefits of development to the most disadvantaged sections of society and strengthening good governance.
According to Nabin, advancing the Jana Sangh’s ideology and core objectives remained an important part of the BJP’s political journey. He linked the organisation’s 75th anniversary to the enduring relevance of its ideology and the continued significance of the goals it had set out to achieve.
The Bharatiya Jana Sangh was founded by Dr Syama Prasad Mookerjee on October 21, 1951.
