Odisha Police Observes 67th Police Commemoration Day at State Police Headquarters

Bhubaneswar, 21 October (H.S.): The 67th Police Commemoration Day was observed at the State Police Headquarters in Odisha on Wednesday, with Director General of Police (DGP) Vinaytosh Mishra paying homage to police personnel who laid down their lives in the line of duty to protect the nation and uphold its honour.

Addressing a special commemorative ceremony held on the headquarters premises, DGP Mishra paid tribute to the brave personnel who made the supreme sacrifice in the service of the country. He also expressed his condolences to the families of the martyrs.

On the occasion, the Odisha Police organised a ceremonial tribute in honour of the fallen personnel. Police personnel observed two minutes of silence to pay their respects to the martyrs and remember their courage and sacrifice.

Speaking at the event, the DGP recalled the incident of October 21, 1959, when 10 Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel were killed while fighting Chinese troops in the Ladakh region. Their exceptional courage and supreme sacrifice are commemorated every year on October 21 as Police Commemoration Day across the country.

The day serves as a reminder of the dedication, bravery and sacrifices of police personnel who continue to safeguard the nation and maintain law and order, often risking their lives in the line of duty.
