Gorakhpur, 20 Oct (HS): On the auspicious occasion of

Vijayadashmi (Dussehra) at Gorakhnath Temple, Gorakhpeethadhiswar and Chief

Minister Yogi Adityanath performed a special puja-ritual of Shiva avatar

Mahayogi Guru Gorakhnath ji. Dressed in special traditional attire, Chief Minister

Yogi, following the tradition of Gorakhpeeth, prayed for the welfare of the

entire universe by worshipping Mahayogi Gorakhnath ji as per the rituals on

Tuesday morning. The special Vijayadashmi ritual at Gorakhpeeth lasted for more

than two hours.

The special puja began at the Shaktipeeth in the Gorakhnath

temple, where rituals of worshipping the mother of the universe, Adishakti, had

been ongoing since the Sharadiya Navratri Pratipada. After worshipping the

altar and praying for the welfare of the people at the Shaktipeeth, Yogi, along

with the temple's chief priest Yogi Kamalnath and other saints, reached the

sanctum sanctorum of the main temple of Guru Gorakhnath Ji amidst the chanting

of Vedic mantras by the teachers and students of the Sanskrit Vidyapeeth, and

the sound of conch, damaru, bell and trumpet. Here, they performed a special

puja of Mahayogi Gorakhnath Ji according to the Nath sect's rituals. Along with

various worship materials, they offered barley sprouts grown on the

Shaktipeeth's altar, performed aarti and offered obeisance by waving a

hand-fan.

After offering his prayers to Guru Gorakhnath, the Chief

Minister performed special worship of the eternal flame, all the idols, the

idols of the Nath sect's sages, the eternal fire, the sacred fire, and Bhim

Sarovar in the temple. He also performed parikrama of Mahayogi Gorakhnath and

all the idols with folded hands. During the worship, the Gorakhpeethadhiswar

also visited the samadhis (tombstones) of his guru, the late Mahant Avedyanath

Ji Maharaj, and other saints. He bowed before the statues of his guru, Mahant

Avedyanath Ji Maharaj, Dadaguru, late Mahant Digvijaynath Ji Maharaj, and

Yogiraj Baba Gambhirnath Ji Maharaj, and other sages, and received their

blessings after performing the ritualistic worship. During this time, the

entire temple complex reverberated with devotion, with the sound of the Nath

sect's traditional musical instruments, including the Nagphani (snake-fani),

the conch, the drum, the bell, the damaru (drum), the trumpet, and the band

playing music. In the special puja of Vijayadashami, Gorakhpeethadhiswar and

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath wished for a happy, peaceful and prosperous life

for the people of the state.

Chief Minister Yogi performed cow service by worshipping

cows on Vijayadashami: As part of the special Vijayadashami puja at the

Gorakhnath Temple, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath worshipped cows in the

temple's cowshed and served them with devotion, feeding them jaggery. During

his service, he also caressed the cattle. He also fed the fish at Bhim Sarovar.
