Kanpur, 20 Oct (HS): The balance of knowledge and power in
Indian culture not only guides society in the right direction but also inspires
us to stand up against injustice. Scriptures guide humanity towards wisdom and
virtue, while weapons symbolize the power to protect against injustice and
oppression. Uttar Pradesh Assembly Speaker Satish Mahana made these remarks at
a weapons worship (Shastra Pujan) ceremony held at the Khatri Dharamshala on
Birhana Road on Tuesday.
Satish Mahana performed the weapon worship ceremony at a
program organized by the Khatri community on the occasion of Vijayadashami. He
highlighted the importance of scriptures and weapons in Indian culture and the
Sanatan tradition. He said that Dussehra is not just a festival of celebration,
but also conveys the message of the victory of good over evil and the end of
ego.
Mahana said that Lord Shri Ram's victory inspires us to
follow the path of righteousness and fight against injustice. Ravana was
extremely knowledgeable, but his inner arrogance led to his downfall. Even his
wisdom could not save him from destruction. By putting an end to Ravana's
arrogance, Lord Shri Ram gave the message that along with knowledge, humility
and dignity are also essential.
He said that the purpose of the tradition of weapon worship
is to understand the importance of power and to pledge to use it responsibly.
Weapons should not be used to oppress others, but to prevent injustice and
protect justice. Along with courage, a spirit of humility and service should
also prevail in society.
The Assembly Speaker said that the festival of Vijayadashami
inspires people to abandon their inner ego, embrace virtuous conduct, and stand
for justice. In Indian tradition, the importance of both scriptures and weapons
is linked to this sentiment. Knowledge gives a person a sense of right and
wrong, while power gives them the courage to stand up for what is right.
