Kokrajhar (Assam), 20 October (HS): The Kokrajhar district administration has declared October 21, 2026, a dry day on the occasion of Vijayadashami to maintain peace, ensure law and order, and safeguard public safety.

According to an order issued by Kokrajhar District Commissioner and District Magistrate Pankaj Chakravarty, all Indian Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL) wholesale warehouses, retail liquor shops, establishments operating under 'on' and 'off' licences, clubs and country liquor shops across the district will remain closed on the day.

The order has been issued under Section 52(1) of the Assam Excise Act, 2000. The district administration has warned that strict action will be taken against licence holders found violating the directive, in accordance with the relevant laws and regulations.

The administration has directed all concerned establishments to ensure strict compliance with the order.-----------
