Chandigarh, 20 October (H.S.): Former Punjab BJP president Sunil Jakhar said that Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s visit had raised hopes that the drug trade allegedly operating under the patronage of the Mann government would now be curbed, protecting Punjab’s youth from the poison of drugs. He was speaking to reporters after the Union Home Minister’s visit to Mansa.
Jakhar said the countdown for the Aam Aadmi Party government in Punjab had begun and that the influence of this “anti-people government” would diminish with each passing day. He added that the time had come for the “plunderers from Delhi,” who had come to loot Punjab while poisoning the blood of its youth, to leave.
Jakhar said Union Home Minister Amit Shah had addressed all the family’s concerns and assured them that a CBI team would arrive tomorrow and begin its investigation. He said anyone found guilty in this case or other drug-related cases would be put behind bars, adding that the Union Home Minister had given this assurance to Parvinder Singh Jhota’s family.
Saluting the courage of Parvinder Singh Jhota’s father and wife, Jakhar said their sacrifice was immense. Despite losing a member of their family, they had continued their efforts to protect society from drugs, and their contribution would never be forgotten. The BJP leader also emphasised that the Government of India had already included pregabalin capsules in the list of scheduled medicines. Taking a swipe at Punjab Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema, he said Cheema was, “as usual, merely reading out a statement sent by his masters in Delhi.”
