Bengaluru, 20 Oct (H.S.): Former MLA Anitha Kumaraswamy has dismissed allegations made against her by the head of a private news channel, describing them as entirely false, fabricated and malicious attempts to tarnish her reputation.

In a strongly worded social media statement during Navaratri, Anitha expressed anguish over what she termed an attack on her character and her standing in public life. She maintained that the accusations had no basis and were intended to damage her image.

Invoking the festival’s association with truth and righteousness, she said the timing of the allegations had deepened her distress. Anitha described the remarks as a deliberate effort to discredit a reputation she said she had maintained throughout her years in public life.

“I am disgusted that such a vile and malicious slur has been used during Navaratri, a festival of righteousness and truth, to tarnish my longstanding, unblemished reputation in public life,” she said.

Asserting that “the truth can never be concealed”, the former legislator rejected the claims unequivocally. Her response centred on defending her personal integrity and condemning those she believed were responsible for circulating the allegations.

Anitha also alleged that the attack amounted to character assassination and was part of a conspiracy. She invoked Goddess Durga, expressing faith that those who planned and carried out the alleged campaign would face divine punishment.

She said the goddess would punish both the masterminds and those who executed what she described as an injustice against her. Divine punishment, she added, would be the ultimate answer to the wrongdoing.

The statement did not elaborate on the specific allegations made by the channel head or provide details of the alleged conspiracy. It also did not announce any legal action.

Her remarks constituted a categorical denial of the accusations, accompanied by an appeal to truth, righteousness and faith during the Navaratri celebrations.
