Chennai, 02 Oct (H.S.): Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay will undertake a 45-km roadshow across the Madurantakam constituency on Friday, seeking support for TVK candidate Maragatham Kumaravel ahead of the October 6 Assembly bypoll.
The campaign will mark Vijay’s second visit to the constituency during the bypoll campaign. He has also campaigned for TVK candidate Sathyabama in Dharapuram, where polling will be held on the same day.
Scheduled to begin at 4 p.m. and conclude at 9 p.m., the roadshow will take the Chief Minister through several towns and villages, allowing him to meet voters and party workers along the route.
Although a public meeting had initially been planned, the campaign programme was redesigned as an extensive roadshow to facilitate direct interaction with residents across the constituency.
The procession will begin at Mamandur, near the Chengalpattu boundary, and proceed through Padalam, the Karunguzhi Ayyanar temple area, Madurantakam town, Perumbakkam and Melmaruvathur before concluding at Acharapakkam.
Vijay is expected to greet residents and meet supporters at approximately 39 designated points during the five-hour campaign.
During the journey, he will visit the Adhiparasakthi Siddhar Peedam at Melmaruvathur and offer special prayers to the presiding deity.
Elaborate security arrangements have been planned for the Chief Minister’s visit, particularly along stretches of the national highway covered by the roadshow.
More than 1,500 police personnel will be deployed to provide security, regulate crowds and manage traffic throughout the programme.
Alternative routes have been arranged to ease congestion, while barricades have been erected on both sides of the road at locations along the campaign route.
Police are also maintaining heightened surveillance as preparations continue for the procession.
With polling approaching, the roadshow will take Vijay’s campaign through a broad stretch of Madurantakam, bringing the Chief Minister into direct contact with voters before they cast their ballots.
