
Lucknow, 2 Oct (HS): On October 2, 2026, Uttar Pradesh Chief
Minister Yogi Adityanath commemorated Mahatma Gandhi and former Prime Minister
Lal Bahadur Shastri's birth anniversaries, emphasizing their continuing ideas
of truth, non-violence, and self-reliance.
Yogi Adityanath stressed how Gandhi's messages of truth, non-violence, peace,
and harmony are still very important today. He stated that adopting Bapu's
ideas of Swadeshi, cleanliness (Swachhta), and self-reliance (Swavalamban) may
bring beneficial change to society.
Shastri was recognized as an example of simplicity, sincerity, and devotion to
duty. He recalled Shastri's renowned motto Jai Jawan, Jai Kisan,
which celebrated soldiers and farmers, and showed Shastri's firm leadership
throughout the 1965 conflict.
CM Yogi added that the state administration is aggressively
trying to realize the vision and ambitions of both leaders via targeted public
welfare programs. He remarked that the state administration is attempting to
realize Bapu and Shastri's vision and ambitions through measures promoting
swadeshi (self-reliance), cleanliness, and public welfare. The Chief Minister
paid floral tributes and recalled both leaders at ceremonies in Uttar Pradesh.
In a post on X, he mentioned, “On the sacred
birth anniversary of the Father of the Nation, Mahatma Gandhi ji, who walked
the path of truth and non-violence to convey the message of freedom to the
entire world through indigenous means and non-violence, millions of
salutations. Best wishes to the people of the state on International Day of
Non-Violence. The revered Bapu's ideals, simplicity, and thoughts continue to
provide us all with constant guidance even today in building a self-reliant and
developed India.”
He remarked in another post on X, “On the
sacred birth anniversary of former Prime Minister, 'Bharat Ratna' Lal Bahadur
Shastri ji, who infused indomitable energy into the nation's soldiers and
farmer providers through the proclamation 'Jai Jawan-Jai Kisan', humble
tribute. Your resolute leadership, honesty, and simple life will remain
exemplary for the people of the country for ages to come.”
