
Lucknow, 2 Oct (HS): Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath gave a
gift to the people of the state on the birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi. He
said that Khadi is the mantra of India's independence; the state government has
provided a discount of 25 percent on Khadi clothes till January 30, 2027. He
appealed to the people of the state that every person should make Khadi a part
of life and respect the skills of artisans, handicraftsmen and weavers. CM Yogi
paid floral tribute to the statue of former Prime Minister 'Bharat Ratna' Lal
Bahadur Shastri located in Annexe. He also remembered Father of the Nation
Mahatma Gandhi on this occasion.
The mantra of India's independence was 'self-reliance
through Swadeshi': Chief Minister Yogi said that today is the 157th birth
anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, the great hero of India's independence, and the
122nd birth anniversary of Lal Bahadur Shastri, India's second Prime Minister,
renowned for his simplicity and gentlemanliness. Bapu's self-reliance
through Swadeshi became the mantra of India's independence. The
independence movement, which was initially scattered, became a mass movement
under Bapu's leadership, forcing the British government to flee India.
Gratitude to the heroes of independence: The Chief Minister
said that Gandhiji's mantra of self-reliance and self-dependence will become
the foundation of a developed India, which is why PM Modi speaks of local
to global. He believes that encouraging and providing a platform for products
made by villages, artisans, handicraftsmen, and weavers is also a tribute to
the great heroes of India's independence.
Every Indian takes Shastriji's name with reverence: Chief
Minister Yogi said that the mention of Lal Bahadur Shastri evokes reverence in
every Indian. He will always be renowned for his simplicity and
gentlemanliness. As sensitive as he was, his personality was equally
empathetic. He delivered on his promises. He spoke only of what he did.
The slogan 'Jai Jawan-Jai Kisan' became the mantra of independent
India: The Chief Minister said that Shastriji's goal was to achieve food
self-sufficiency in India and to instill respect in every Indian for the
soldiers fighting on the nation's borders. Shastriji's slogan Jai Jawan,
Jai Kisan became the mantra of independent India.
Farmers committed to making India self-reliant: Chief
Minister Yogi said that while soldiers were protecting the borders and
defeating the enemies, on the other hand, the farmers, the food providers, were
committed to making India self-reliant through their sweat and hard work. As a
result, India has today achieved the goal of food grain self-sufficiency. India
now has the capacity to feed 1.4 billion citizens and supply food grains to
many countries. The mantra given by Shastriji in 1965 is still assimilated by
the soldiers and countrymen who provide India's internal and external security.
