New Delhi, 02 October (H.S.): The Department of School Education and Literacy (DoSEL) under the Union Ministry of Education organised a cleanliness shramdaan programme at a PM SHRI School in New Delhi as part of the Swachhata Hi Seva 2026 campaign. The programme was led by Department Secretary T. K. Anil Kumar and witnessed the participation of students, teachers, senior officials and officers of the Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan (KVS).

The cleanliness drive was organised under the Eco Clubs for Mission LiFE initiative. During the shramdaan, participants cleaned the school premises, the adjoining community area and the park located opposite the school. The initiative sought to connect the school and the surrounding community through collective efforts towards cleanliness.

Following the cleanliness drive, a plantation programme was also organised under the ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam 3.0’ campaign, with students actively participating in the activity. The programme sought to promote awareness about environmental conservation and sustainable lifestyles.

A quiz on the Solid Waste Management Rules was also organised for the students. Through the quiz, students were familiarised with source segregation of waste, its proper disposal and responsible waste-management practices.

The programme underscored that schools are not merely institutions for imparting education but also important centres for inculcating habits of cleanliness, environmental conservation and responsible citizenship among children. Students were encouraged to participate actively in activities related to cleanliness and environmental protection.

Additional Secretaries of DoSEL Dheeraj Sahu and Archana Sharma Awasthi, Joint Secretaries Prachi Pandey and Dr. Amarpiret Duggal, Deputy Director General (Statistics) Dr. Pankaj K. P. Shreyaskar, Chief Controller of Accounts Deepika Jain, and KVS Commissioner Vikas Gupta, along with other officials of the department and the organisation, also participated in the shramdaan.

Through the programme, the Department of School Education and Literacy conveyed the message of making cleanliness an integral part of everyday life and strengthening the participation of schools and students in the vision of a clean and developed India.
